Watch Care Guide

Thank you for choosing Finemods! Your watch is built to last, and with a little care, it will stay in prime condition. Here’s a guide to keeping your watch looking and performing its best.

General Care Tips

Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Avoid exposing your watch to temperatures above 60°C (140°F) or below -10°C (14°F). High heat can damage components, and freezing conditions can cause your watch to run slowly or stop.

Keep Away from Strong Magnets: Strong magnetic fields, like those found in speakers or electronic devices, can disrupt your watch’s accuracy. When possible, avoid placing your watch near magnets for extended periods.

Water Resistance

Check Water Resistance Regularly: Our diver models are designed for underwater use, but it’s essential to maintain the watch’s water resistance. We recommend a yearly water-resistance check, especially if the watch is frequently exposed to water.

Avoid Hot Water: Even if your watch is water-resistant, avoid wearing it in hot tubs or showers. The combination of heat and moisture can damage the seals and reduce water resistance over time.

Rinse After Saltwater Exposure: If you’ve worn your watch in saltwater, rinse it with fresh water afterward to prevent corrosion on the case and strap.

Cleaning Your Watch

Use a Soft Cloth: Gently wipe your watch with a soft microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints, dust, and oils.

Mild Soap for Deeper Cleaning: If your watch has accumulated grime, use lukewarm water and a mild, non-abrasive soap. Dip a soft cloth in the soapy water and gently clean the case and strap. Be careful not to let water seep into non-water-resistant parts.

Avoid Cleaning Chemicals: Never use harsh chemicals or solvents on your watch, as they can damage the finish and seals.

Leather Strap Care

Keep Dry: Leather straps are sensitive to moisture. Avoid submerging leather straps in water, as this can weaken the material and cause discoloration.

Rotate Straps for Longevity: If you have multiple straps, rotate between them to prolong each one’s lifespan.

Condition Periodically: Condition leather straps every few months to keep them soft and prevent cracking. Use a leather conditioner specifically designed for fine leather.

Bracelet and Rubber Strap Care

Cleaning Metal Bracelets: Remove the bracelet if possible and soak it in warm, soapy water for a few minutes. Gently scrub with a soft toothbrush, then rinse and dry thoroughly.

Rubber Strap Care: Rubber straps can be cleaned with mild soap and water. Avoid exposure to oils, lotions, or perfumes, which can cause deterioration over time.

Mechanical Movement Care

Regular Servicing: Mechanical watches should be serviced every 3-5 years to maintain precision. This involves cleaning, lubricating, and calibrating the movement to keep it functioning smoothly.

Winding and Setting: For manual watches, wind the crown gently without over-tightening. When setting the time, avoid setting backwards, as this can damage the movement.

Storage Tips

Store in a Cool, Dry Place: Avoid storing your watch in damp or humid environments, which can cause parts to rust.

Use a Watch Box: Store your watch in a dedicated watch box to protect it from dust, scratches, and knocks.

Avoid Prolonged Sunlight Exposure: Extended exposure to sunlight can fade the colors of your dial and strap. Store your watch in a shaded area when not in use.
